CSG, NSF and training levy calculator

Three lines on the monthly return depend on the basic wage: CSG (social contribution), NSF (National Savings Fund) and the HRDC training levy. Part is taken from the employee. Part is paid by you on top. Type the basic wage and see both sides.

Calculate

Basic wage only. Do not include overtime, bonus or allowances. Include the yearly salary compensation.
Household workers have a lower NSF floor, and no training levy is due.

Nothing you type leaves your device.

How we worked it out

  1. CSG: 1.5% from the employee and 3% from the employer when the monthly basic wage is Rs 50,000 or less; 3% and 6% when it is above Rs 50,000 (Social Contribution and Social Benefits Act 2021 s.4).
  2. NSF: 1% from the employee and 2.5% from the employer, on the basic wage clamped between the insurable floor and ceiling published by MRA for the year. The Act rounds NSF to the nearest rupee; we show cents so you can see the exact rate.
  3. HRDC training levy: 1.5% of the basic wage, no ceiling, employer only (Human Resource Development Act s.18). Not due for a household worker.

The law behind this

Before you rely on this

  • This calculator is for a private-sector employee paid monthly. Public officers, self-employed people and the end-of-year bonus have their own rules.
  • The floor and ceiling are the MRA figures for the income year. They change each July.
